The penile arteries continue to deliver sufficient blood
to the corpora. The penile nerves continue to relay
signals of sensation to the brain. The penile veins are
blocked by the swollen corpora, trapping blood in the
penis. The engorged corpora become rigid with trapped
blood. The rigid corpora are hard enough for insertion
during intercourse.

The penile
nerves carry no signals of arousal or sexual stimulation
yet. The penile arteries deliver a normal amount of
blood to the corpora. The penile veins drain a normal
amount of blood from the corpora. The blood vessels in
the corpora are restricted, leaving little room for
blood. |
